This April, thousands of free-spirited music lovers will flock to the California desert for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio.

The annual 2 weekend, 3-day festival will take place April 11-13 and 18-20. It will feature multiple stages for live music performances from more than 150 artists, and from every genre, including rock, hip-hop and electronic. This year’s headliners include OutKast, Muse and Arcade Fire, in addition to other popular artists such as Ellie Goulding, Pharrel Williams and Lana Del Rey.

In addition to music, the festival offers a variety of activities, shops, and food and beverage options. Festival-goers can test out their skills in a hula hoop contest, participate in a yoga or Pilates class or shop for Coachella-inspired art and clothing while sipping on a freshly made, organic smoothie from the Clover Juice Bar.

The festival grounds open at 11 am each day, and performances go well into the night, past 12 am. Keep the party going and dance the night away at the Silent Dance Party in the Dance Dome, beginning around 1 am every night.

Accessible by plane, train and car, the festival provides a variety of accommodations. For the ultimate Coachella experience — and the most popular — camp at the on-site polo grounds adjacent to the performance area. Off-site camp grounds are also available at local RV and camping parks such as Indian Waters RV Resort, Lake Cahuilla Recreation Area and Shadow Hills RV Resort.

Not into camping? Palm Springs, located just 30 minutes from the festival, has a number of hotel options for visitors such as the Renaissance Palm Springs and Riviera Resort, in addition to a variety of restaurants, nightlife and entertainment.

For those staying off-site, bus transportation is available to and from area hotels in Palm Springs, La Quinta (La Quinta Resort & Club), Rancho Mirage (Agua Caliente Casino) and Indian Wells (Miramonte Resort & Spa), and will run daily from 11 am until 30 minutes after the final show of the night.

Can’t make it to Coachella this year? That’s ok — watch Coachella’s YouTube channel from April 11-13, for live streaming of the performances.

And for music lovers planning to attend Coachella in the future, be sure to plan ahead and be ready because passes and on-site camp spots sell out in just a few hours. This year’s passes sold out in less than 3 hours!
